Devon Hanley grew up on the North Shore, which meant long walks up and down mountain side to get to piano, theory and singing lessons. High school days were considerably brightened by the ability to leave school for hours on end with simply the explanation, “I have to practice for my piano exam”. University scholarship funds paid for her first piano and for a little over a decade Devon worked full time as a musician playing all the clubs, lounges, and nicer bars, in Vancouver as well as some jazz and folk festivals. After a hiatus from the music scene, motherhood and a career change, Devon returned to singing and songwriting releasing her first album in 2008, with a second and third in 2017 and 2018.
Inspired mostly by the great folk singer/songwriters of the 60s and 70s, Devon writes songs that tell stories. A warm and expressive voice and diverse songwriting styles have won her a devoted following. She is especially pleased to perform at the Friday Night Live series with Rene Worst (http://www.reneworst.com/) on bass and Finn Manniche (Van Django) on cello.
