Matt Grinke’s The Happiest Big Band On Earth had it official debut At Friday Night Live. If you were in the audience, I’m sure it will be one Friday Night Live that you will never forget. There had been much anticipation around this band and people were not quite sure what to expect – but they sure wanted to find out. FNL had a record breaking audience, filling the building to near capacity with people wanting to see and hear a brand new 17 piece Jazz Big Band that was going to play all original charts of Disney songs. The ages of the audience spread the spectrum, with no one knowing exactly what to expect.
After a brief introduction from the host Blair Odney, Matt Grinke, Band Leader and Orchestrator, stood up and counted the band in – and they started cookin’. For the next hour, everyone in that audience was taken to a level of excitement and joy that is seldom experienced. The Happiest Big Band On Earth has what it takes to create the happiest audience on earth.
Matt’s band will be playing at Presentation House Theatre in North Vancouver on June 1st and 2nd, 2018. If you saw them at FNL, you will definitely want to see them again. If you missed them, then you gotta go see and hear them at Presentation House.
See you there.
